A place to learn Japanese.

I'm trying to find a good program to apply for to teach English in Japan. Does anybody know of a good program.

I may apply for JET next year (though the rep I talked to was extremely discouraging, talking about people leaving the interview crying)

I also found one called AEON. It looks legit, but if somebody knows anything about it, that would make me feel better.

Any information on AEON, JET or any reliable programs would be great.

You probably know this already-

If you look around the net you'll find stories about people who've worked at these places before but some might view them as a bit biased. Yes the JET programme is a bit hard to get into but they want the best people for the job.

I've heard some odd stories from teachers I've know in the past who taught out in Japan (teaching out of old text books, can't speak to students outside class...) but also some really positive stories as well.

Even though I've got a CELTA UK teaching qualification (this I think would allow to teach somewhere in Japan) I've only taught English to foreigners in the UK. At 36 I guess I'm too old now to teach out in Japan :-( but I wish you all the best! Gambatte (^.^)

I don't know about programs, but if you have a bachelor's degree and if English is your native language, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job as a teacher.

Well programs help find the jobs and housing, that's why I'm interested in a program. I generally need help figuring out those issues.

But, hey, if anybody can give me good advice on how to look for jobs and apartments on my own, that would be fantastic.

oh and another thing, study as much Japanese as possible before you go, you'll be glad you did!
There're some jobs which require a certain Japanese level, not many, but the pay is better :)
gah, i wish my native language was English! (>_<)
