Japanese food!!!! I love it sooooooooo much!!!!!!!! If you love Japanese food then post something here about it!!!! This is 鍋 (なべ). Perfect when the weather is cold. Will warm you up and looks yummy! I've never had it but it appears to have everything I like in it!! The first time I saw this dish was in anime Inuyasha.
I'm usually put off by most Japanese food. They eat weirdo things like crab brains, minnow anus, and other nasties. I absolutley love spicy pepper pesto soba noodles served cold though.
Wow, crab brains, minnow anus... I've not heard of it before, in any country's cuisine. So, it tasted bad? How was it served?
I'm a little confused with "minnow anus", lol. I thought minnow are the tiny fish used as bait for larger fish when you're fishing? How do you eat just the anus? Lol.
Pretty sure it's not possible to eat minnow anus ;s I'd give it a try if it were.
Has anyone tried the delicious looking Japanese Kit Kat flavors? I would love to get my hands on the Sakura Kit kat or orange brandy kit kats. Is there a place where I can buy them online? I've tried J-list but they are out of stock =/
I have actually had this before! not the sakura one but I had the orange and a watermelon one that my mom brought home one day.. they were both good but I have no clue where to get them again..
これは親子丼(おやこどん)です。
This is Okyakodon, which means Mother and Child because it's basically eggs cooked with chicken and onions over rice. It is one of my ultimate Japanese comfort foods, as well as dead simple to make.
This was in Shimabara at a really cute and traditional Japanese restaurant.
p.s. I love crab brains!
(on the left you have engawa (fluke fin muscle) and the left one is aji (horse mackerel))
This is Edozushi, it's a kind of sushi restaurant that has a counter (bar style) that you stand at, and you order you're sushi two at a time. Historically, sushi was the fast food of the Edo period, when this type of establishment was first invented In Edo.
This is possibly my favorite kind of sushi place (aside from guruguruzushi (on the conveyor belt)) The guy who was making my sushi would make them so fast that when he put them on the bamboo leaf in front of me, the rice and fish would still be relaxing from being compressed together. Incredible stuff.
This might seem a lil wierd but could anyone tell me what the 'Naruto' is within ramen. i know its the lil spirals things that float around but never really knew what they were :)
