Other Languages

So I guess that either you know or want to learn Japanese. But are there any other languages that you know or wish to learn?

As for myself I know fluent English and Spanish. I'm trying to learn Japanese and maybe someday I'd like to learn French.

Well, I studied French, German and Esperanto in school. I've retained an interest in German and really should work on getting my vocabularly back.

I also used to be fairly fluent in Welsh (having had a Welsh girlfriend) but a pretty nasty bike accident squished the part of my brain where that lived so now I only have a few basics left.

Some are quite important tho', like "Gae curw imi os gwelloch un dda." which is one way to ask for a beer :lol: (can't guarantee the spelling there :o).

I'm welsh, and I think you spelt that right - although I'm not sure on "os gwelloch un dda" - I'm pretty sure it is "os gweloch un dda" But I think you spelt it right anyway - I only really speak english, and don't pay attention in Welsh class T_T

I have yet to conquer Japanese fluency. But, should that day come, I'd like to learn another asian language, like mandarin.

I know some Spanish(I took two years of it). I would like to learn German because I lived in Germany for three years but didn't learn anything. I have to learn Latin(that'd be cool) and I'm in the process of learning Elvish(LOTR).

Well, since I am Chinese, I might learn the language.

That would help out in Japanese, when seeing Kanji, since they have similar meanings.

I saw the symbol & recognized it as 「ねずみ」。
I dont know Chinese, but I know they have the same meaning.

Well, I love learning languages at all, so I'm trying to learn more of them^^. My native language is Slovak (and Czech), and at school I'm learning English and German (however, mein Deutsch ist schrecklich^^), and in my freetime Japanese, Mandarin, Italian and Russian:) But actively I can speak only Slovak, Czech, English and a little bit Japanese^^ My Italian is more passive, I understand, but cannot speak, and my Mandarin and Russian are quite poor yet, since I've just started studying them seriously^^ but I hope to improve and study Japanese and Mandarin at the University^^ My dream is to speak all these languages fluently:)

Hi, I am Chinese and I'm able to read, write, speak English and Mandarin, and I can speak Cantonese as well. I love studying languages and I hope to learn Malay, which I think is similar to Japanese in that their sentence structuring is similar. And I really like the concept of sharing knowledge at Japancast, so if anyone is interested to know anything about the Chinese language, do feel free to ask.

Cool! Do you know a lot of Chinese? &do you know the symbols too?
My dad is Chinese, he speaks & read/writes it.
