I know that there are different ways of saying 'I' in Japanese depending on if you're male or female but I haven't been able to figure out what the difference between 'Watakshi' (is that how you speel it?) or watashi is. I'm guessing they each have a different feeling to them or something like that but I haven't a clue. Anyone know?

Watashi and watakushi are both formal speech manners, but I think watakushi is a bit more used by women.

So is 'Ore' and 'Boku' informal speech for males and are they commonly used in everyday talk?

Yes boku and ore are often used by men, but I think ore is more informal and a bit rude. If you really want a definite answer on this matter try asking Hitomi or someone else who has lived in Japan.
